Most homes built before the 1990s are due — or overdue — a rewire. Old wiring doesn’t just fail to meet modern standards, it can become a genuine safety risk. Here are the signs to look out for.
This type of wiring is well past its safe lifespan and a common finding in pre-1970s homes across Nottingham.
If your consumer unit is struggling to keep up with demand it's a clear sign the system needs attention.
These are warning signs that should never be ignored — call us today if you're experiencing this.
If your electrical inspection has come back with C1 or C2 codes, a rewire may be the recommended course of action.
If you're moving into a home built before 1990 and there's no record of a previous rewire, it's worth getting one done.
A rewire sounds daunting. Here’s exactly what to expect — no surprises, no stress.
01
We visit your property, assess the full scope of work and give you a fixed price. No obligation, no guesswork.
02
We agree a start date, discuss which rooms need protecting and plan the work to minimise disruption to your daily life.
03
New cables are run throughout the property. We protect floors and furniture and work as tidily as possible throughout.
04
Sockets, switches and light fittings are installed. Your new consumer unit is fitted and connected, bringing everything up to current standards.
05
Full testing of the installation, your Electrical Installation Certificate issued same day and Building Regs notification submitted.
Not every property needs a full rewire. We’ll assess what’s right for your home and only recommend what’s genuinely needed.
A complete replacement of all the electrical wiring throughout your home — from consumer unit to every socket, switch and light. The right choice for older properties or where the existing wiring is beyond repair.
Where only certain areas or circuits need updating — typically when adding an extension, fitting a new kitchen or bathroom, or where specific circuits are failing or unsafe.
You get a written fixed price before we start. That’s the price you pay. No day rates, no scope creep, no awkward conversations at the end.
A rewire is disruptive — we can’t change that. But we can plan around you, protect your home and work efficiently so you’re back to normal as quickly as possible.
Every rewire is backed by our 6 year workmanship guarantee. If anything we’ve done causes a problem, we come back and fix it. Simple as that.
We’re NAPIT approved contractors. All work is fully certified, Part P compliant and Building Regs notifications are submitted on your behalf.
We only use quality materials from trusted suppliers. Cheap cable and accessories cost more in the long run — we do it right first time.
You’ll know exactly what’s happening every day. We keep you updated throughout and are always available if you have a question or concern.
Most rewires take between 3 and 7 days depending on property size and complexity. A 2-bed house is typically 3–4 days. We’ll give you a clear timeline before we start.
Not necessarily. There will be periods without power and there’s unavoidable disruption — but many of our customers stay in the property throughout. We’ll plan the work to keep disruption to a minimum and always let you know when power needs to go off.
Some chasing into walls is usually needed to run cables and fit back boxes. We minimise this as much as possible and work neatly throughout. We can recommend a plasterer to make good after if needed.
You’ll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) signed by a qualified electrician, plus a Building Regulations Completion Certificate. These are essential documents for selling your home or for insurance purposes.
Not necessarily — it depends on the condition of the existing wiring. The best way to find out is an EICR (electrical inspection). If we find the wiring is still in safe condition we’ll tell you honestly. We won’t recommend a rewire if one isn’t needed.
